For the past four years, I’ve specialised in personalised tutoring, transforming struggling students into confident English achievers. I particularly excel at helping those who find English challenging to discover their unique voice and abilities.

My Approach to Teaching English

Every pupil learns differently, which is why I tailor my approach to your individual needs, learning style and academic goals.
At the start of our work together, I’ll assess:
- Your current strengths and areas for development
- Your specific curriculum and exam board requirements
- Your learning preferences and interests
- Any particular challenges you’re facing
- Your target grades and aspirations
From there, I design lessons that balance curriculum requirements with engaging activities that make learning enjoyable. I firmly believe that pupils learn best when they feel supported and when the material connects to their interests and experiences.
How I Help You Learn
My teaching methodology draws on proven approaches that I’ve refined through years of classroom experience
Text Exploration
Developing critical reading skills through guided analysis of diverse texts

Targeted Feedback
Specific, constructive comments that help you understand exactly how to improve
Spaced Repetition
Revisiting key concepts regularly to strengthen long-term memory and understanding
Visual Learning
Using mind maps, diagrams and colour-coding to help organise ideas and information
Balanced Lessons
Every lesson includes a balance of reading, writing, speaking and listening activities
When I'm Not Teaching
Being an English tutor, I’m sure it will come as no surprise that my love for literature extends beyond the classroom! I’m an active member of two book clubs and regularly attend literary festivals across the UK. I also run a creative writing group for young people at my local library on Saturday mornings.
I’m committed to ongoing professional development and regularly attend workshops on the latest teaching methods and curriculum developments. This ensures my tutoring remains aligned with current educational practices and examination requirements.
Having struggled with dyslexia myself during my school years, I have particular empathy for pupils who face learning challenges. This personal experience informs my patient, encouraging teaching style and my belief that every pupil can succeed with the right support.
